Ismaila Sarr came close to leaving Selhurst Park during the summer after Liverpool saw their £50million offer rejected by Palace.
Ismail Sarr was disappointed when the move fell through and only recently returned to full first-team training at Crystal Palace. After missing out on the move, Sarr is now close to agreeing a new contract.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes the contract could include an agreement allowing Liverpool to make another move.
Liverpool door could remain open for Sarr
Brown believes Ismaila Sarr would still want the option of joining Liverpool after what happened during the summer.
“It’s going to be interesting to see if we find out the details of that new contract for Sarr.”
“Everybody knows he wanted to join Liverpool during the summer; he was disappointed that the offer was rejected and he’s only recently come back into full training,” Brown told Football Insider.
Brown added that he would expect some form of Liverpool clause to be included if Palace and Sarr complete the new agreement.
“So a couple of weeks later, for him to be close to signing a new contract, I expect there will be some sort of Liverpool clause which could allow that deal to still happen.”
He believes such an arrangement could suit everyone involved, particularly if Liverpool return with an offer that Palace are prepared to accept.
“It will be a deal that works for everybody, and if Liverpool don’t come back in for him, then Palace will be keeping hold of a player who has done an excellent job for them.”
