Crystal Palace have been handed a fresh World Cup concern after Yéremy Pino suffered a late shoulder injury during Spain’s 1-0 win over Uruguay.
Spanish outlet AS reported that Luis de la Fuente said Pino had shown real bravery and suggested a collarbone fracture was possible, with medical tests now required. Cadena SER also reported a possible clavicle fracture after the Palace attacker fell awkwardly in the 87th minute and completed the match because Spain had no substitutions left.
The immediate club relevance is obvious. Pino is not an academy fringe player enjoying a summer cameo; he is a senior Palace attacking option whose pre-season availability now sits behind Spain’s medical assessment. With Pierre Sage preparing for his first campaign at Selhurst Park, any extended absence would instantly tighten the wide-forward rotation.
Pierre Sage Faces A Nervous Pino Wait
The timing is uncomfortable for Palace. The club’s own World Cup tracker had noted that Pino made his finals debut against Saudi Arabia, entering at half-time and helping force an own goal. ReadCrystalPalace also covered his World Cup debut earlier this week.
There is no confirmed diagnosis yet, so Palace must wait for Spain’s medical update before making any club-level judgement. The alarm is still conditional rather than conclusive, but for a player signed as a major attacking piece, this has instantly become one of the most important injury checks of Spain’s knockout preparation.
