Oliver Glasner is set to make a swift Premier League return with Nottingham Forest after leaving Crystal Palace, handing Eagles supporters an awkward summer twist.
Jason Burt of The Telegraph reported on X that Glasner will succeed Vitor Pereira as Nottingham Forest manager, with The Telegraph Football account also pushing the exclusive.
The Guardian has since reported that Forest have dismissed Pereira and appointed Glasner as their new head coach, making him their fifth manager in less than a year.
Glasner Move Leaves Palace Fans With Bitter Feeling
For Crystal Palace, this is not just another managerial appointment elsewhere. Glasner left Selhurst Park after a historic spell, with Palace forced to move quickly and appoint Pierre Sage as his successor.
Reuters confirmed Sage’s Palace appointment on a three-year deal in June, after Glasner’s departure at the end of the season.
The emotional issue is obvious. Glasner built real credit at Palace, raised expectations and helped change what supporters believed the club could achieve. Seeing him return so quickly at Nottingham Forest will sting.
It also sharpens the pressure on Sage. Palace cannot spend July looking backwards, but this move ensures Glasner’s shadow will remain part of the conversation if Forest start quickly or Palace stumble.
The club’s response has to be simple: back Sage properly, protect the core of the squad and make sure Glasner’s Palace legacy does not become a weekly comparison point.
Palace fans may respect what Glasner did. That does not mean they have to enjoy where he has gone next.
