Crystal Palace have tried to bring in the best possible replacement for Oliver Glasner in the form of Pierre Sage, the French manager who seemingly conquered every possible avenue in French football. His RC Lens side finished second in the Ligue 1 table, only six points behind champions PSG. They also won the French Cup during the previous campaign.
Palace will now look to settle into life with their new head coach. A new challenge in European and English football now awaits the Eagles as they gear up for pre-season training.
Sage might still have to take care of a few other important issues at the club. Some of their most important players from the previous campaign are now being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.
One of them is of course Daichi Kamada. The Japanese International’s contract with the club is now officially over and unfortunately, he is not a free agent. But there is some positive news on the horizon.
BREAKING: Daichi Kamada is close to signing a new contract with the club. He is expected to remain with Palace with final discussions being held over the length of the deal.

Daichi Kamada provides update on Crystal Palace future
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Kamada is set to remain at Crystal Palace. The midfielder is out of contract, but an agreement over a new deal is close.
Recent comments of the 29-year-old following Japan’s exit from the World Cup, might just excite the Crystal Palace fans, as Kamada commented on his future, as he said:
‘When you consider that I can play in the Premier League, play in a European league, play in London, and have my family in a familiar environment, there aren’t many clubs better than Palace.’
The club management is surely keeping tabs on their star midfielder’s recent comments. And it looks like an extension is on the horizon for him.
AC Milan interested in Kamada following international form
AC Milan are reportedly interested in bringing in Kamada on a free transfer and are closely monitoring his situation in England. But it looks like that move is no longer on the table for the Italian giants.
Going by the words of the Japanese international, he looks to be waiting to put pen to paper on a new contract with Crystal Palace. It reflects his current status in the squad following the midfielder’s brilliant display during the previous campaign and also during Japan’s World Cup campaign, which was ended by Brazil in the Round of 32 despite a valiant effort from the Blue Samurai.
Kamada carried his form from the previous campaign into the World Cup and featured in every game for his national side. He even scored two goals in the competition before getting knocked out.
Now that international duty is over for Kamada, Sage will need to sit across the table alongside the club management and reach an agreement with the 29-year-old. If Palace are to continue their brilliant form from the previous campaign under their new manager, they need to keep Kamada around.
Kamada’s partnership with Adam Wharton was key for Glasner during the 2025-26 campaign. Sage will now look to keep hold of Palace’s midfield stability as the French manager gears up for a busy summer with his new club.
Unfortunately, Kamada is not the only midfielder being linked with a move away from Crystal Palace. Adam Wharton is believed to be a key target for Chelsea and their new manager Xabi Alonso.
