For Crystal Palace, the realities of balancing domestic ambitions with European competition have well and truly landed.

The Premier League has confirmed its latest batch of broadcast selections for October, resulting in a sweeping overhaul of Palace’s autumn schedule. Four fixtures involving the Eagles have been moved, driven by a combination of Sky Sports television picks and the knock-on effects of Thursday night action in the Europa League.

It makes for a congested month, but one that underlines the club’s growing stature.

Here is how the fixture changes break down for the Eagles and their supporters.

Opening the month under the Sunday spotlight

The first change comes right at the start of October, with Palace’s Selhurst Park encounter against Nottingham Forest shifted. Originally slated for the traditional Saturday afternoon slot on October 10, the match has been pushed back 24 hours.

Palace will now host Forest on Sunday, October 11, with kick-off set for 14:00 BST. The move comes as a direct result of Sky Sports selecting the clash for live broadcast, giving the Eagles an early-month platform in front of the cameras.

Derby day delayed: The European domino effect

Perhaps the most significant calendar shift comes the following week for one of the most fiercely contested fixtures on the calendar. Palace’s trip to the South Coast to face rivals Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium has been pushed back 24 hours.

The M23 derby will now take place on Sunday, October 18 at 14:00 BST. The delay is heavily dictated by midweek European commitments; Palace are in Europa League action on Thursday, October 15, making a Saturday fixture impossible.

The matchday could carry double European significance, as October 18 also marks matchday one of the Europa Conference League group phase a competition Brighton will feature in provided they navigate their play-off tie against Norwegian side Tromsø.

Force Newcastle shift

The after effects of Palace’s Thursday night European campaign continue into the latter half of the month. The Eagles’ home fixture against Newcastle United at Selhurst Park has also been pushed back to a Sunday.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, Palace will now welcome the Magpies on Sunday, October 25, kicking off at 14:00 GMT. The extra recovery day will be crucial for Sage’s squad as they navigate the tight turnaround between domestic and continental duties.

London derby moved for Saturday night football

To round out October, Palace’s short trip across the capital to face Tottenham Hotspur remains on its original date of Saturday, October 31, but the timing has been adjusted.

The London derby has been handed the prime-time Saturday evening slot, kicking off at 17:30 GMT after being selected for live television coverage. It provides a blockbuster finish to a grueling month of football.

All four rescheduled matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.

The club has confirmed that full ticketing details for all four fixtures will be released in due course, with supporters advised to download the official Crystal Palace app to receive real-time updates and push notifications for any further fixture adjustments.
