Liverpool could return for Ismaila Sarr as Palace face January decision

Crystal Palace could face another Ismaila Sarr transfer headache in January, with Liverpool reportedly still considering a move for the Senegal international.

The Reds pushed hard for the winger during the summer window but couldn’t get a deal over the line. Crystal Palace rejected a £50 million offer, while reports also suggested Liverpool returned with another proposal before the deadline.

Ismaila Sarr had been keen on joining Liverpool and wanted the move to Anfield. That interest has not disappeared, with Liverpool now expected to keep him on their radar ahead of the January window.

Ismaila Sarr still wants Liverpool move

According to Football Insider, Liverpool could “possibly” go back in for Sarr when the transfer window reopens.

The winger was one of several players Liverpool considered as they looked to strengthen their attacking options and find a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right.

Liverpool eventually signed Bradley Barcola for £120 million before the deadline, but that didn’t stop their interest in Sarr.

For Palace, the situation is more complicated. Sarr remains their player, but his desire to leave could make the coming months important.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke believes the failed transfer was a major setback for the winger and says Palace now need to work on getting him “back onside” and performing at his best before January.

Sarr’s representatives have also reportedly criticised the collapse of the move, adding another layer to the situation.

Liverpool’s plans could still change before January, particularly with Cody Gakpo remaining at the club after his proposed move to Manchester City fell through.

But one thing appears clear that Liverpool haven’t completely forgotten about Sarr.
