Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell has emerged as a transfer target for Juventus, with the Italian giants reportedly considering a move for the left-back when the January window opens.
According to Tuttosport, Mitchell is one of two defenders on Juventus’ shortlist as they look to strengthen at left-back. The club have been hit by injuries in the position, with Andrea Cambiaso missing recent games because of an ankle problem and Juan Cabal facing a longer spell out.
That has pushed Juventus towards potential January solutions, and Tyrick Mitchell is now on their radar.
Juventus add Mitchell to left-back shortlist
The Crystal Palace defender has developed into an increasingly important player under Pierre Sage. Mitchell has particularly impressed with his work in the final third and has become a useful attacking outlet alongside his defensive qualities.
He is also regarded as a reliable one-on-one defender and has generally avoided major injury problems.
The growing interest comes after Mitchell’s strong start under Sage, while Palace continue to enjoy one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history. The Eagles have won both the FA Cup and UEFA Conference League in recent seasons.
Mitchell has also attracted attention from other Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and Manchester United previously linked with the 27-year-old.
Juventus’ interest will be another reminder of Mitchell’s growing reputation to Palace. The Eagles will now want to keep hold of him as has become an important part of Sage’s plans.
A January approach from Juventus could put that resolve to the test, particularly if the Italian side decide to make Mitchell their priority for the position.
