Can Dario Osorio get a chance at Crystal Palace after Chile performance?

Dario Osorio has not had much time to make his mark at Crystal Palace since joining the club, but his latest display for Chile offered another reminder of what he can bring.

The 22-year-old has played just two games for Crystal Palace so far, with only 60 minutes on the pitch. His opportunities under Pierre Sage have therefore been limited.

International football has been different, though. Dario Osorio helped Chile beat Mexico 2-0, providing the assist for Vicente Pizarro’s second-half goal.

Osorio earns praise from Chile legend

The Palace winger appeared ready to shoot from outside the box with his left foot before choosing a different option. He waited for Pizarro’s run and played a clever pass into his path, allowing the midfielder to finish the move.

That moment caught the attention of Chile legend Ivan Zamorano, who believes the pass showed the qualities of a top player.

“What Dario Osorio does is the mark of a star player,” Zamorano said, as quoted by Sport Witness. “Maybe he didn’t appear that much in the game, but these are the plays where you say: this kid is a star.”

Zamorano was particularly impressed by Osorio’s deception.

“He’s going to shoot and… everyone thinks he’s going to shoot, but he plays the pass to Pizarro,” he added.

The Chile legend has backed Osorio since his move to Palace, previously describing his career path as the right one.

“He’s quick, he’s technical, he strikes the ball well, and he’s adapted very well physically. I think he’ll do very well at Crystal Palace.”

Osorio joined Palace from FC Midtjylland after three years in Denmark, where he recorded 21 goals and 14 assists in 98 appearances. Despite his lackluster start at Palace, Osorio has a lot of potential and may see more chances after a decent international break.

Crystal Palace play Nottingham Forest next at Selhurst Park.
