Fabricio Coloccini is once again being linked with a move to Crystal Palace.
Alan Oliver of The Sunday People is reporting that Alan Pardew wants to bring in the Newcastle skipper, following Everton’s decision to chase Swansea captain Ashley Williams.
When he was working under Pardew at Newcastle, Coloccini won the player-of-the-year, and would be joining up with an another ex-Newcastle employee in Yohan Cabaye, who was loved by the fans in the North East.
Last season, the defender didn’t have his best campaign at St James’ Park, but ex-boss Pardew is still interested in the Argentine.
With new boss Steve McClaren coming in and still taking the time to assess his squad, he is still undecided on whether or not Coloccini will be allowed to depart, or if he is part of the former England manager’s plans.
Coloccini has struggled to shake his achilles injury off through pre-season, and McClaren is close to adding to his list of defenders by adding Anderlecht’s Chancel Mbemba to the squad.
Pardew and Crystal Palace did have their eye on Welsh international Ashley Williams, but he is being strongly linked with a move to Everton where he would be replacing young England international John Stones, if he moves to Premier League champions Chelsea.
