Whilst speaking to TalkSport, former Chelsea defender turned pundit Jason Cundy has said that Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon should be in the England squad ahead of Manchester City’s Fabian Delph.
Delph was in fantastic form last season for Aston Villa, which earned him a move to the team that currently tops the Premier League table, but injuries and form have meant that he has not received much game time with City.

Whereas Puncheon has had plenty of game time and impressed heavily throughout the opening section of this season; carrying on from his good displays last year. Despite this, England manager Roy Hodgson has decided yet again to go with his ‘tried and tested’ and not pick players based on their club performances during the season (A tactic that has received much criticism from England supporters).
Delph started against Spain in England’s 2-0 loss on Friday night and Cundy, who had a brief loan spell at Palace in 1995, has said that it should have been Puncheon in the squad, ahead of Delph.
Puncheon really [should be in]. Puncheon or Delph? I mean they both play a similar role, and I think Puncheon’s had a fantastic season.
