Crystal Palace put in an impressive display over Southampton with a 1-0 victory thanks to a first half goal from Yohan Cabaye. The win pushes the Eagles above Everton into 6th.
Palace were on top for the whole game at Selhurst Park and Southampton rarely threatened Hennessey’s goal. While the Saints could have easily had a late equaliser, the Eagles had numerous chances to kill the game off in the first half.
Ronald Koeman can thank Paulo Gazzaniga as the Southampton goalkeeper filling in for Stekelenburg, for keeping the score line down as the Argentine made a number of quality saves to deny Bolasie, Cabaye and Wickham.
With this well deserved victory, Pardew’s side should surely be looking to gate crash a European spot by the end of the season.
