Pardew gives latest on former Spurs striker’s arrival

In his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game against Manchester City, Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has admitted that the Eagles are interested in former Spurs striker, Emmanuel Adebayor.

Following his release from the North London club back in September, the Togo international has been a free agent, receiving interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Watford.

Seeing as Palace have now gone four games without a goal, it’s no wonder as to why Adebayor’s name has made it onto the wish-list of the former Newcastle United boss.

Adebayor is a player that is there for somebody and it is a question of ourselves wondering whether we are the right club for him and whether he is the right player for us. It’s something that is in our mix.

Pardew has also confirmed that Dwight Gayle has returned to training for the South London side, and former Sunderland forward Connor Wickham is poised to lead the line for the Eagles at the Etihad tomorrow afternoon.

We aren’t quite as offensively positive as I’d like us to be at times so we’re trying to make us a bit more of a threat. There have been a lot of reasons for us not scoring and injuries are a big factor. It isn’t just Yannick Bolasie who has been out, no Gayle, no Wickham, no Bakary Sakho, so that’s a big quartet of players. But they’re getting up to speed and hopefully our goal tally will improve.

Palace’s last game, which ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of struggling Aston Villa, really showed how desperate Palace are for a striker who knows where the net is.

matchday.
