The 25-year-old made the move to Serie A from Ghanaian side Berekum in January 2010 for a reported fee of £425k and has gone on to make 159 appearances for Udinese in the six-and-a-half-years since, scoring on 10 occasions.
Capped 68 times by Ghana, scoring 11 goals, Badu was a consistent performer for Udinese in Serie A last season making 33 appearances and scoring four goals – his best goal return in a single-season in his career.
The Eagles face competition from West Ham, Middlesbrough and Sunderland for the combative midfielder this summer.
With the future of Mile Jedinak in doubt after Aston Villa launch a bid to sign the Australian last week, Alan Pardew is keen on adding from fresh faces to his midfield and wants Badu to be one of his latest signings.
