Puncheon escapes FA punishment after incident refferal

The Football Association has confirmed that Jason Puncheon will not receive any sort of punishment after an off-the-ball incident which was not seen by the officials was referred to FA.

Zabaleta claimed to the referee that the Crystal Palace midfielder had tripped him up as he made a run down the right, to give Yaya Toure, who was already on the scoresheet, an option for a pass.

It created a commotion that the referee had to deal with as players from both sides got into a fueled argument over the alleged incident of which referee Bobby Madley had to control.

At the time, after the situation had cooled down the referee spoke to both players about the incident and as a result of none of the officials seeing the incident, it was referred to the FA.

After reviewing the incident, it was deemed that an act of violence was not committed by Puncheon, which could have saw him handed a three-match ban.

The Eagles lost the game 2-1 after two goals from Yaya Toure, which saw Pardew’s side handed their fifth defeat in five games.
