Ronnow admits he wanted to join Palace in January

Crystal Palace have long been linked with a move for Frederik Ronnow and were claimed to have made a late move for him at the tail-end of the January transfer window.

The Eagles have been eyeing a new goalkeeper for some time now as Roy Hodgson looks to bolster his options. Wayne Hennessey and veteran shot stopper Julian Speroni have been rotated this season and it is evidently a problem position for the South London outfit.

Ronnow, speaking to Danish newspaper BT (via Sport Witness) responded to being quizzed on whether joining Palace was what he wanted from the January transfer window.

Yes, of course it was. It’s a Premier League club that has shown interest for a really long period. Of course it was. I’m obviously annoyed, but also clear and motivated. I could choose to go and cry in the corner, but I wouldn’t get anything out of it.

The Brondby goalkeeper has gone from strength to strength in the recent years and this has prompted Premier League interest. Palace were keen to sign him in the summer but their efforts fell through, much the same as what happened in the late days of January.

Ronnow will now aim to continue developing and present himself as a viable option for a Premier League side when the summer comes around.
