Sako was taken off during Palace’s 1-1 draw with West Ham after a robust challenge from Pablo Zabaleta.
The referee did not view the tackle as a foul, despite the aggressive nature of the incident.
Zabaleta won the ball before following through on Sako’s ankle, causing the injury.
Sako will now start his treatment in an attempt to return to action before the end of the Premier League season.
The winger has scored six goals in all competitions for Palace this term, after failing to score a goal last year and only scoring twice in 23 games in his first season for the club.
