Tottenham ready to pay £40m for Wilfried Zaha

Tottenham Hotspur are set to test the resolve of Crystal Palace by making a £40million bid for winger Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs have been long-time admirers of the Ivory Coast international and have made bids of £12m and £21m for him in the past, both of which were promptly rejected by the Eagles.

With the added influx of cash they’ve had, Spurs are ready to up their bid to £40m in the hope that Palace will finally agree to sell the 25-year-old.

If Palace are relegated, there seems to very little chance of Zaha remaining at the club but if Roy Hodgson’s side avoid the drop, they’ll have a decision to make regarding his future.

Zaha is the club’s best player and having him in the squad boosts Palace’s chances of meeting their long-term ambitions, but £40m could allow Hodgson to improve a few areas of his squad.

Zaha is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2022 on a deal worth around £100,000-a-week, so there is no desperate need for Palace to sell, so they could well hold out for even more cash from Spurs.
