Christian Benteke a doubt for Bournemouth clash

Crystal Palace are facing an injury crisis in terms of their forward options as Christian Benteke is a doubt for the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday after he picked up a groin injury whilst training.

Conor Wickham is a long-term absentee, whilst Alexander Sorloth is also unlikely to be fit, so Benteke’s injury has not come at a good time for Roy Hodgson.

The Palace boss spoke to the media about the chances of the Belgian striker being fit for the game and he admitted that he is still not sure.

He said:

Benteke limped off the training field feeling his groin so we won’t know how well he is until the night passes and he comes in tomorrow morning and he will be assessed again. I asked the doctor to rate his chances and he is not prepared to and says we will have to wait and see tomorrow so if the doctor is not prepared to rate his chances then I can’t possibly do so.

If the Belgian is unable to feature, Palace will likely be forced to play Wilfried Zaha as a makeshift striker.
