Southampton and Newcastle join Palace in the race to sign Danny Ings

Crystal Palace are facing competition from other Premier League sides who, like the Eagles, are interested in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings, according to a report from John Percy of The Telegraph.

Ings, who has asked to leave Anfield this summer after being told that he is behind Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Dominic Solanke and Rhian Brewster in the pecking order, is also a target for Newcastle United and Southampton.

Liverpool, who are willing to let up to ten players, including Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius, Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic, leave this summer, have apparently put a £20m asking price on Ings.

Whether Palace would still be interested in the 26-year-old at that price remains to be seen, especially as he’s been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

Ings, who has one England cap to his name, only returned to full fitness midway through last season after two injury hit seasons, and as such, a £20m fee could be too rich for Palace’s blood but if the Reds are willing to negotiate, Ings could certainly be a viable option for Roy Hodgson.
