Palace hopeful of having Tomkins back for Huddersfield clash

Crystal Palace are hopeful of having defender James Tomkins back for their clash with Huddersfield after the international break.

Tomkins is currently struggling with a calf strain, which has caused him to miss the club’s last two matches.

He missed the League Cup win over Swansea and the Premier League defeat to Southampton.

Martin Kelly started at centre-back in his place against the Saints, and was caught out by Danny Ings for the opening goal.

According to The Examiner, Tomkins could return to training next week ahead of the trip to Huddersfield.

Tomkins has made 59 appearances for Palace since joining the club from West Ham in 2016.

After four Premier League matches, Palace have won once and lost four times – with defeats to Southampton, Watford and Liverpool.

Their only win came against Fulham on the opening day of the season – a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Jeff Schlupp and Wilfried Zaha.
