Palace defender Souare reportedly set for exit

Palace defender Souare reportedly set for exit

Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare is unlikely to remain at the club beyond the duration of his contract, which expires at the end of the season, according to reports.

Souare was heavily linked with a loan move away from Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window but no temporary transfer materialised.

However, it appears as though Souare is no longer in Roy Hodgson’s plans at Palace, with the Sunday People, as cited by Sky Sports, indicating that the left-back is set for an exit in the not so distant future.

Souare’s progress at Palace was hindered by a serious car accident back in 2016, which at one stage threatened his ability to play football at the top level again.

The defender bounced back from his long-term injuries, however, and returned to first-team content for Palace. Despite this, however, Souare appears to be edging closer to the exit door.

Patrick van Aanholt has nailed down the starting berth at left-back and it seems inevitable that Senegal international Souare will receive more regular first-team action elsewhere.
