Crystal Palace have been given a major boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to face Chelsea at Selhurst Park with the news that Wilfried Zaha is expected to be fit to play in the game.
Zaha missed the 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Championship side Middlesborough with a shoulder problem but manager Roy Hodgson expects the Ivory Coast international to be fit for selection on Sunday.
Speaking after the loss to Boro, another game that the Eagles failed to win without Zaha, Hodgson said:
He took a bang on the shoulder at the weekend which will be fine by the Chelsea game. It would have been difficult to play him [against Middlesbrough] with that knock anyway, but I spoke to him yesterday and he said he was fine.
Palace’s record without Zaha is, to be blunt, terrible, and if they want to have a realistic chance of taking anything from Selhurst Park, they’ll need their talisman fit and firing.
