Christian Benteke back in full training

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is back in full training following his long injury lay off.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of his side’s FA third-round clash with Grimsby, Roy Hodgson revealed that the Belgian forward is back training with his teammates.

He said:

He’s been back in training a while but today was the first real occasion I suppose when he has joined the squad and trained from start to finish. There have been a couple of occasions where he has joined in the early part of training and when it’s become a bit more competitive he has to drop out but today he took part in full training.

Benteke started the first four games of the season before he suffered a serious knee injury, one which needed to be surgically repaired.

Palace have struggled for goals in his absence and the club’s fans will be hoping that he can come back and hit the ground running.
