Souare set to miss several weeks with shoulder injury

Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare could be out of action for a few weeks after injuring his shoulder during their FA Cup third round victory over Grimsby Town, according to a report on Football London.

The left-back has found it difficult to break into the starting lineup ahead of Patrick Van Aanholt so far this season.

Manager Roy Hodgson gave Souare his chance at Selhurst Park but unfortunately for him, he was forced off the pitch with a shoulder problem.

Souare has had an extremely difficult year after breaking his leg and jaw in a car accident.

Hodgson said:

I’m really disappointed. I’ve worked with him now for over a year and he’s done so well to get back from a horrendous injury caused by an accident.

Today was the day I was really hoping he would get on the field of play and show what he shows us in training and he would come off the field victorious and happy.

To get injured like that with his shoulder, that was a bitter blow and it was one of those unfortunate things.

I’m very disappointed for him and I can only hope that he recovers quickly but it’s not a minor injury, it could keep him out for weeks.

Palace’s next game is against Watford on Saturday 12th January in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.
