Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic has been axed from the Serbia international squad by manager Mladen Krstajic, as reported on Reuters.
The midfielder and coach fell out after Serbia were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in the group stages.
The pair have failed to settle their differences and that has resulted in Krstajic removing Milivojevic from his international plans for Serbia’s Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
The manager said:
Luka (Milivojevic) is no longer ready to play for Serbia because we have failed to come to terms and put certain issues behind us.
Serbia is bigger than either Milivojevic or myself and our priority is to create a good atmosphere for what lies ahead.
Milivojevic publicly criticised the manager’s tactics as Serbia fell to a 2-1 defeat against Switzerland.
The midfielder was hauled off the pitch with the score at 1-1 and the attacking move went horribly wrong as Switzerland netted a winner.
