Crystal Palace confirm signing of Jacob Mensah

Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of defender Jacob Mensah from non-league side Ramsgate FC.

As was reported yesterday, Palace were confident that they’d beaten the likes of Brighton, Cardiff and Wolves to the signing of the teenager and today’s announcement proves that they were right to be confident.

Mensah had been playing regularly in the Isthmian League South East Division and he caught the attention of a number of different scouts, including some from teams in the Premier League.

He has already spent time with Brighton on trial earlier this year, but the report claims that it’s Palace who have made the offer to snap him up.

The 18-year-old, who will join up with the Palace academy, made his Ramsgate debut in 2016, aged 16, and had been working as a roofer as well as playing non-league football.

He’ll now have the chance to prove himself by working full time with the Palace U23 squad, from where he’ll look to earn a call up to the first-team.
