Crystal Palace are reportedly pursuing a deal for River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borre.
Santos Borre appears to have caught the eye of Palace’s scouts in Argentina this season. From 17 Primera Division outings, he has found the back of the net on four occasions and contributed with a further two assists.
River Plate had initially owned only a percentage of the 23-year-old’s registration, but have since moved to secure his services completely for a fee worth €7 million.
The Colombian forward is held in high esteem by his club, and it is reported that they have moved swiftly to include a €30 million release clause in his contract at River Plate.
Crystal Palace are understood to have held discussions with the player’s representatives to negotiate the possibility of a move soon, but the outcome of these talks is not yet known.
Alternative strikers who Crystal Palace could target this summer
Inglese has been superb on loan at Parma from Napoli and would be a smart signing for Palace.
Mata is not the youngest of forwards, but his form for Getafe this season recently earned him a Spain call-up. He still has a lot to offer.
Maupay has been excellent for Brentford this season and would add a strong, promising option to Palace’s front-line.
Muriel has been reinvigorated during his loan spell with Fiorentina. Palace would do well to make a shock swoop for the Sevilla outcast this summer.
Abraham has been shining for Aston Villa in the Championship on loan. Palace could be keen to offer the forward a route out of Chelsea.
Philipp is out of favour at Borussia Dortmund but would be a shrewd acquisition for the Eagles.
