Crystal Palace have reportedly joined fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Max Kruse from Werder Bremen.
The Eagles are, according to a report from Calciomercato, setting their sights on a summer deal for the experienced German, whose future in the Bundesliga has come under scrutiny.
Kruse has been linked with a host of clubs ahead of the summer transfer window already, with reports indicating that both Tottenham and Serie A giants Inter Milan are keen.
The 31-year-old has been in good form for Werder Bremen in what could be his final season at the club. From 28 Bundesliga appearances, he has scored 10 goals and contributed with nine assists.
However, Kruse could seek pastures new in the upcoming summer as his contract at the Weser Stadium expires at the end of the current campaign.
Crystal Palace could be looking to land the player on a free transfer, with recent claims indicating that they will be unable to sign Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea following his loan deal.
Why Kruse could be a good addition to Palace's squad
Kruse is a vastly experienced player. He is intelligent, composed and would add a steady option to Hodgson’s ranks.
Kruse has a proven track record of scoring goals in Germany and would bolster Palace’s attacking options.
As evidenced by his numbers this season, Kruse is capable of producing in front of goal and delivering the final ball to his teammates.
There would be no risk involved in a free transfer. Palace would be getting an accomplished forward for no cost aside from his wages.
