Palace make contact over deal to sign Morelos

Crystal Palace have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos.

According to Rincon Escoces, as cited on the Daily Record, Palace have made contact as they enter the race to sign the player.

Morelos, who scored 26 times last season, has been heavily linked with moves to the Premier League in the past and has previously made it known that he wants to play in England.

Newcastle were said to be admirers during Rafa Benitez’s time at the club, while the Daily Record’s report also cites interest from Borussia Dortmund, Nice and Marseille.

Rangers are under no pressure to sell, but Morelos does come with his fair share of baggage.

The player was sent off an astonishing five times last season, with manager Steven Gerrard constantly facing questions about the player’s attitude and reliability.

Roy Hodgson is in the market for a striker this summer after seeing loanee Michy Batshuayi return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of last season.
