Crystal Palace set to take Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton

Cenk Tosun is reportedly closing in on a deal that will see him join Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, according to reports.

Turkish journalist Gokmen Ozcan reports that his fellow countryman is set to join Palace on a six-month loan deal, with both Eagles boss Roy Hodgson and Tosun himself having approved the finer details of the deal.

The Turkis international has been frequently linked with a move away from Goodison Park in January as he’s fallen down the pecking order and has been a bit-part player ever since he was signed by Sam Allardyce.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are currently Carlo Ancelloti’s preferred forward players, whilst Moise Kean is also seemingly ahead of Tosun in the rankings of Everton’s strikers.

Tosun moving to Crystal Palace could end up being the ideal outcome for all parties involved.

Sitting on the bench at Goodison is doing the player no favours at all, and the chances of him getting regular game time seem very slim.

Palace are certainly in need of a striker to add to their squad, although Tosun’s goalscoring at Everton has hardly been stellar so there’s no guarantee that he’d solve some of the issues that the Eagles are having in front of goal.

Still, a fresh start in a new environment could reinvigorate the 28-year-old and help him recapture the form that saw the Turkish international score 64 goals in 142 appearances at Besiktas.
