Crystal Palace offer Jean-Philippe Mateta deal until 2030

Crystal Palace have reportedly offered Jean-Philippe Mateta a new contract which would keep the striker at Selhurst Park until 2030.

Transfer reporter Nicolò Schira claims Palace have submitted the proposal as they seek to secure Mateta’s long-term future.

The 29-year-old’s current deal expires in June 2027. Palace therefore face no immediate pressure to sell, but a new agreement would protect one of their most important attacking players.

No agreement has yet been reported between Mateta and the club. The latest update only states that Palace have made an offer.

Mateta’s future has attracted regular speculation following a disrupted January transfer window. A proposed move to AC Milan collapsed before he remained in south London for the rest of the season.

Reports have since continued to link the France international with a possible departure. Palace now appear determined to convince him to extend his stay instead.

Palace look to secure Mateta future

Mateta remains an important figure for new manager Pierre Sage despite increased competition within the attacking department.

His physical presence, penalty-area movement and Premier League experience give Palace a proven option through the middle. Losing him with only one year left on his contract next summer would also weaken the club’s negotiating position.

The striker’s return to pre-season has been delayed by his involvement with France at the World Cup. As Read Crystal Palace recently reported, his progress to the latter stages left Sage waiting to work with his main centre-forward.

Palace’s reported offer would extend Mateta’s contract by three years. Attention will now turn to whether the forward is prepared to accept the proposal and commit the remainder of his peak years to the Eagles.
