Many Crystal Palace fans have urged defender Gary Cahill to put in a good display against rivals Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend.

The Eagles travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton, who secured a draw at Selhurst Park in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Former Chelsea man Cahill skippered the Palace team in their last Premier League match, leading the side to a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United.

Cahill was praised heavily by fans for his display in that match, with many fans calling for him to become the club’s new permanent captain.

However, the centre-back is a relatively new player to the club after only joining last August so many fans on Twitter have taken the opportunity to tell him how important this weekend’s clash is.

The 34-year-old needs all the information because he missed the earlier clash in December, meaning this will be his first taste of the rivalry.

The Englishman posted four pictures of him training onto Twitter and these fans couldn’t resist sending him some messages.
