Crystal Palace fans hail Jairo Riedewald following club award

A number of Crystal Palace fans have been lauding the recent resurgence of Jairo Riedewald after the Eagles announced that the midfielder had claimed the club’s Player of the Month award for October.

The Dutchman has endured a largely frustrating spell at Crystal Palace over the last few seasons, finding himself down the pecking order and facing lengthy spells out of the side under Roy Hodgson. That saw him manage just 17 Premier League appearances last term, only seven of which were from the start, and he is already nearly halfway towards that tally of starts this season (Sofascore).

Hodgson has decided to reintroduce him to the Eagles’ starting line-up over the last three Premier League matches, and he has repaid that faith by delivering strong performances against Brighton Fulham and against Wolves last time out. The Dutchman even scored his first goal for the club during the victory at Craven Cottage.

So far this season, Riedewald is averaging an impressive 93% passing accuracy to help the Eagles keep control of possession in midfield. He has also won 1.8 tackles and completed 0.8 successful dribbles per game, which demonstrates the other qualities he can provide in the middle of the park (Sofascore).

Crystal Palace fans react to Riedewald recognition

Many Palace fans feel that the 24-year-old “superstar” is thoroughly worthy of the award and that he deserves praise for the patience and attitude he has shown for a long time when out of the team under Hodgson.
