Why Crystal Palace Want Arsenal to win the Premier League

  • Crystal Palace can make £10m with Arsenal title win
  • Eagles face Gunners on final day
  • Oliver Glasner’s side also battle Manchester City

Crystal Palace could potentially add an extra £10m to their transfer budget if Arsenal win the Premier League title. The Eagles face the Gunners on the final day of the season on May 24th.

Oliver Glasner’s men’s main focus for the remainder of the campaign is to become the UEFA Conference League winners. They progressed to the final courtesy of a 2-1 (5-2 aggregate) win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals last night.

Palace meet Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano in the final in Leipzig just three days after they host Mikel Arteta’s North Londoners. Winning the European trophy might not be the only reason the South Londoners are not bothered about losing that game.

Crystal Palace Will Favour an Arsenal Title Win

Barring a miracle, Palace are unable to qualify for Europe through their league finish. They sit 15th in the league with four games left.

Glasner’s side must win all their remaining games and hope that Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bournemouth and others drop points. It’s not mathematically impossible, but inconceivable.

As such, the Palace boss will probably prioritise the final in Leipzig over the meeting with the Premier League leaders. A weakened team could be fielded to ensure his main men are fit and ready for the clash with Rayo.

That’s not the only reason rotation is likely to be on the cards. The club stands to make £10m from the deal that saw Eberechi Eze head to the Emirates, per afcstuff on X (via Palace Report).

If Eze and the Gunners win the league, that performance-related add-on will be triggered. As it stands, Arteta’s men are on course to become champions, sitting top with a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

The English attacker left Selhurst Park for the Emirates last summer in a £67.5m deal. He’s been a key man during their title challenge, registering seven goals and two assists in 30 games.

Palace Have Huge Say in Title Race

The Eagles can decide whether the Premier League title heads to North London or Manchester. That’s because not only does Glasner’s side face Arsenal but they also collide with City.

Pep Guardiola’s Citizens host the South London outfit on May 13th at the Etihad. That match might have huge implications on the title race.

Palace have a game in between their encounters with the two title contenders. They face Brentford away on May 17th and you’d expect Glasner to want to finish the league campaign strongly.
