- Crystal Palace draw 2-2 vs Everton
- Ismaila Sarr reaches 20 goals for the season
- Senegalese winger reacts
Ismaila Sarr spoke proudly of playing for Crystal Palace after he hit his 20th goal of the season in a 2-2 draw against Everton. The Senegalese winger made history with another fine strike.
Palace fell behind to a James Tarkowski opener in the sixth minute, but Sarr came to the fore as he has all season. He thumped home a fierce left-footed effort in the 34th-minute.
The visitors were back in front in the 47th minute when Beto did well to shake off Maxence Lacroix and tuck home past Dean Henderson. Oliver Glasner opted to call upon Jean-Philippe Mateta, and the French striker bagged a 77th-minute equaliser to seal a point.
Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton: Sarr on 20th Goal
Sarr has now become the first Palace player since Glenn Murray in 2013 to reach 20 goals in a season. He continues to lay claim to being the best signing of the Glasner era.
The 28-year-old spoke to Sky Sports after the game and was asked how it felt to join Murray on the hugely impressive milestone:
“I’m happy to score every game, this team is very good. This is my family, I’m happy to be here every time. Giving 100% for the team, for the gaffer, for the staff. Yeah, I’m happy to be here.”
Sarr earned the Man of the Match award for his performance and he’s clearly the favourite to win the club’s Player of the Year award. He has all but certainly won the UEFA Conference League Golden Boot after striking his ninth goal of the campaign in a 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk last Thursday.
Happy to Have Him
Sarr may have inadvertently quashed speculation over a possible summer transfer with his comments. There had been slight rumours growing over his future amid his electric form this season.
Reports back in March suggested Villarreal, AC Milan and today’s opponents Everton were monitoring the Eagles winger. He has three years left on his contract and is clearly loving life at Selhurst Park.
Sarr joined the club from Marseille back in August 2024, and played a key role in last season’s FA Cup win. He’s posted 32 goals and 10 assists in 88 games across competitions throughout his spell in South London.
