‘Gamble’ – Crystal Palace fans react to Pardew tipping Sancho with Selhurst Park
  • Crystal Palace fans react to Jadon Sancho suggestion
  • Alan Pardew thinks he’ll join club like Eagles
  • Some opposed to Man Utd winger

Alan Pardew’s suggestion that Jadon Sancho could end up at Crystal Palace has divided opinion amongst the fanbase. The English winger will be available as a free agent at the end of the month.

Manchester United have announced that Sancho is among the players who will be allowed to leave when his contract expires. He has spent the season on loan at Aston Villa and will be available on a free transfer from June 30th.

Sancho has encountered a difficult spell in the Premier League since joining United from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021. He faltered with the Red Devils but did fare well at Villa.

Crystal Palace to sign Sancho?

Sancho’s future is uncertain ahead of his United exit, and there’s no sign that he has found a new club. This has led to growing speculation about the 26-year-old and where he’ll end up.

Pardew reckons Palace is the kind of club he will join rather than one of the big six. The former Eagles boss said on Wednesday:

“I think that will be the kind of club that he’ll go to. That mid-section of the Premier League. I don’t think he’s going to get a move to one of the top six clubs.”

Sancho has played for three Premier League clubs over the past five years. He flopped at United before spending the second half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan at former club Dortmund.

Chelsea moved for him the following season, signing him on loan with an obligation to buy. The Blues somehow dodged buying him permanently and he then headed to Villa for the 2025-26 campaign.

Crystal Palace fans on Sancho

Sancho is a polarising figure because of the manner of his United exit. He clashed with former manager Erik ten Hag and was banished from the first team for a social media post that called the Dutchman ‘a liar.’

Question marks over his professionalism have been constant throughout his time in the Premier League. As such, there are many of the Selhurst Park faithful who wouldn’t be too keen on him.

OurCPFC asked their followers how they’d feel if the club were to sign Sancho. One responded: “No! If you are going to gamble make it Harvey Elliot!”

Another supporter wrote: “For the South London lore yeah, but not convinced he can get back to dortmund form, he’s had so many chances in the prem.”

One said: “No. He would turn up expecting to be the big man on campus with huge wages, an attitude problem and 18 months out of football. We should invest as we have done recently on talented up and coming players.”

Another replied: “Seems like a bad apple.”

There are some who sit on the opposite side of the fence and see the benefit of having Sancho. One supporter wrote: “Anyone is better than Johnson.”

Another added: “Would be good for europa league, depending on wages.”

One said: “I love Sarr and Pino but tbh we do need someone who can take on a man.”

Another replied: “Squad depth and Sage could bring the best out of him one last time.”

The chances of signing Sancho do seem slim given the amount of money he’ll be demanding. He turned down the chance to stay at Chelsea because of the wages on offer, per ESPN.
