Crystal Palace Transfer News as Pierre Sage plots four signings
  • Crystal Palace set to back Pierre Sage
  • Four new signings could be made
  • Where the Eagles want to strengthen

Crystal Palace have reportedly decided where to strengthen Pierre Sage’s squad this summer. The French coach is set to be confirmed as Oliver Glasner’s successor this week.

According to Sky Sports‘ James Savundra, Palace are plotting four signings as they back Sage at the start of a new era. The Eagles have yet to officially confirm his appointment but he has reportedly agreed on a three-year deal.

Sage earned widespread praise during his time in France, guiding Lens to a second-place finish last season. He also took the French club to Coupe de France glory.

Palace plot four new signings

Savundra claims that Palace will ideally look to sign a new right-back, a centre-back, two central midfielders and an attacking midfielder. There’s no word on who they might be but there have been plenty of names linked.

Reports suggest Sage could even bring some of his former Lens players to Selhurst Park. Young French defender Ismaelo Ganiou is seemingly under consideration and likewise the club’s former striker Odsonne Edouard.

Palace have also been linked with Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. The South London outfit is one of many clubs keen on the Englishman, but Everton seems to be leading the race.

Keeping key men

It’s just as crucial that Palace ensure high-profile names don’t leave the club this summer. They are reportedly trying to convince Daichi Kamada to sign a new deal and want Adam Wharton to stay for at least one more season.

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s future is uncertain amid links to AC Milan, whom he nearly joined in January. One player who will be staying is Jefferson Lerma who has signed a new one-year contract extension.

Sage will likely assess the squad and make decisions with the recruitment staff in the coming weeks. He’ll have a pre-season to start implementing his football philosophy.
