- Crystal Palace could offload Matheus Franca
- Corinthians keen on midfielder
- Brazilian spent last season on loan at Vasco da Gama
Crystal Palace midfielder Matheus Franca looks increasingly likely to be sent out on loan or sold this summer. The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Vasco da Gama.
According to RTI Esporte, Corinthians could move for Franca under the direction of manager Fernando Diniz. A summer exit is on the cards and Palace are expected to seek another loan move.
Franca isn’t thought to be in Pierre Sage’s plans for next season following the French coach’s appointment. He could stay in his homeland and continue playing under Diniz, who coached him at Vasco last season.
Corinthians want Franca
Franca joined Palace from Flamengo in the summer of 2023 in a £26m deal. He failed to earn regular game time with the Eagles’ first team, making just 19 appearances, scoring one goal, and providing two assists.
The 22-year-old was sent to Vasco in August 2025 and he was handed plenty of minutes. He appeared 27 times for the Brazilian club.
A move to Corinthians would see him reunite with Diniz and the player’s representatives are already aware of the club’s interest. But there are no ongoing negotiations for the attacking midfielder at the moment.
The right decision
Palace might be open to another loan, given they are currently looking to tie Daichi Kamada down to a new deal. The South Londoners have reportedly offered him a contract extension ahead of his current one expiring on June 30th.
Sage might also be adding at least one new midfielder to his squad this summer. Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney has been linked, although Everton appear to be frontrunners for the Englishman.
Franca’s chances of regular game time are slim, especially if Kamada extends his contract. Another loan, perhaps with the option to buy, is probably the best decision for everyone.
There were claims in Brazil during his time at Vasco that Franca had been “underperforming.” But Diniz’s intentions to bring him to Corinthians suggest he admires the player.
