Oliver Glasner Nottingham Forest Move Adds Edge To Palace Tie

Oliver Glasner’s Nottingham Forest appointment has given Crystal Palace’s October meeting with Forest a sharper early-season edge.

The Guardian reported that Forest moved for Glasner after dismissing Vitor Pereira, with the Austrian agreeing a three-year deal after leaving Palace at the end of his contract.

Palace’s official 2026/27 fixture list places Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park on Saturday, 10 October. The fixture now gives Pierre Sage one of his first major home reference points.

Palace confirmed Sage’s appointment in June, with the French coach signing a three-year contract after last season’s European success under Glasner. The club presented him as the manager to carry the project forward rather than start again from scratch.

ReadCrystalPalace had already covered Forest’s push for Glasner and what it could mean for Palace. His appointment now gives the October meeting a clear emotional layer.

Sage does not need to erase Glasner’s work. Palace supporters will remember the Austrian’s success fondly, and rightly so. The new manager still needs early evidence that the standards have stayed in place.

A strong Palace performance against Forest would carry more weight than a routine autumn home result. It would give Sage a calm answer in front of a Selhurst Park crowd still attached to the previous chapter.

Glasner’s return will bring noise. Sage’s job is to make the football feel settled.
