Crystal Palace will host Manchester City under the lights after their first home game of the 2026/27 season moved to Friday, 28 August.
The Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park will now kick off at 20:00 BST. It gives Pierre Sage a major first home league game as Palace manager.
Palace already faced a demanding start to the new campaign. ReadCrystalPalace previously covered how Sage opens away at Everton before welcoming Manchester City to Selhurst Park.
The new kick-off time gives the match a bigger television feel. The Sun’s broadcast list places Crystal Palace v Manchester City on Friday night coverage with Sky Sports.
Sage Faces Major Selhurst Park Opener
Sage will now take charge of his first home Premier League game in a prime Friday night slot.
Palace supporters should help create a strong atmosphere at Selhurst Park. City will still arrive as one of the hardest early opponents in the division.
The fixture also gives Palace an early measure of their level under Sage. A strong performance would give the new manager something to build on before the schedule settles.
Palace’s opening month already carried weight. Moving City to Friday night makes the first home occasion even bigger.
