Crystal Palace certainly appear to understand that at some point during the summer transfer window, they might have to let go of one of their top performers, Maxence Lacroix.
Although Lacroix’s contract still has three more years left, and Crystal Palace have the upper hand when it comes to negotiations for their centre-back as a result of it.
The recent interest from three of the Premier League’s top clubs further elevates their position regarding the transfer of Lacroix. And it looks like the Eagles will want a premium to part ways with the French international.
Crystal Palace set Maxence Lacroix transfer price
According to The Times, Lacroix wants to leave Selhurst Park. But Chelsea will have to pay £55 million for the Crystal Palace defender.
The recent interest coming from both Arsenal and Liverpool further complicated the current scenario regarding the probable transfer of the centre-back.
Lacroix’s fellow French teammate, William Saliba’s injury now makes it a bit of an obligation for Arsenal to look into the market for a starting central defender.
Liverpool are also believed to be locked in alongside long-term admirers Chelsea. So, with that level of interest, it is hard to imagine Lacroix staying, although it helps Palace’s chances of getting as big of a transfer fee as possible.
Maxence Lacroix’s brilliant form
Lacroix had been one of Oliver Glasner’s most trusted players in the back line since his arrival in the summer of 2024. He is also starting to make his presence felt at the international level for France.
As for Palace, they are yet to find a replacement for their January departure Marc Guehi, and barely six months down the line, the Eagles find themselves in quite a similar situation, with Lacroix’s exit now looking more imminent than ever.
Although the Selhurst Park side have been in these kind of situations previously, their brilliant run in cup competitions during the previous seasons certainly makes this a bit different.
The fans’ expectations around their team have certainly grown following their brilliant run in the Conference League, as they went all the way and defeated Rayo Vallecano in the showpiece final.
New manager Pierre Sage will certainly have an uphill task on his hands this summer, as he is not only expected to continue Palace’s brilliant form into the new season, but also find quality replacements for some of their top stars who are now looking closer to the exit door.
