Fenerbahce are pushing to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace for Ismaïla Sarr after the Senegal international reportedly gave the green light to a move to Turkey.
The transfer could now depend on whether Palace are prepared to sanction the departure of one of Pierre Sage’s most important attacking players.
TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Marco Conterio reports that Fenerbahce are “one step away” from Sarr and have accelerated negotiations with Palace.
The 28-year-old is said to have already approved the move, leaving Fenerbahce needing to find an agreement with the Eagles.
Conterio adds that the Turkish club stepped up their Sarr pursuit after failing to progress with Rafael Leao.
Ismaila Sarr Fenerbahce transfer puts pressure on Crystal Palace
Palace are in a strong negotiating position and have little reason to sanction Sarr’s departure cheaply.
ReadCrystalPalace previously reported that Manchester United had also registered an interest in the winger, with Palace under no immediate pressure to sell because his contract runs until 2029.
Sarr’s importance increased considerably last season.
He was named the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League Player of the Season after scoring nine goals as Palace won their first European trophy. He finished as the competition’s leading scorer and was also voted Palace’s Player of the Season. (uefa.com)
That makes this a significant decision for Sage.
Sarr agreeing to join Fenerbahce does not mean Palace have accepted his departure. There is currently no confirmed transfer fee or agreement between the clubs.
The Eagles have already experienced considerable squad movement this summer and losing another established starter would create another position requiring attention before the Premier League begins.
Fenerbahce may therefore have convinced Sarr, but Palace still control the most important part of the deal.
