Crystal Palace are considering a shock move to sign former Brighton & Hove Albion winger Solly March on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old left Brighton this summer after 15 years with the club and more than 300 appearances, but he wants to continue playing in the Premier League.
March has now been recommended to Palace. talkSPORT reports that a potential move has been discussed internally at Selhurst Park, despite his long association with the Eagles’ biggest rivals.
Crystal Palace consider Solly March transfer
March remains without a club after his Brighton contract expired at the end of last season.
His final years at the Amex were disrupted by injuries, including a long-term knee problem, and he made only four appearances during the 2025/26 campaign. However, March recently told talkSPORT he is now fully fit and determined to remain in the Premier League.
That availability makes him an intriguing option for Pierre Sage.
March can operate on either wing or as a wing-back and would bring considerable Premier League experience without Palace needing to pay a transfer fee. His best top-flight campaign came in 2022/23, when he scored seven league goals as Brighton qualified for Europe.
Palace are already looking to add more experience alongside their younger targets. ReadCrystalPalace reported on Wednesday that the Eagles are in advanced talks over an £11million move for Zavier Gozo, as Sage reshapes his attacking options.
There has been no agreement with March and Palace are only considering the possibility at this stage.
A move across the rivalry would inevitably attract attention, but a fit and experienced Premier League player available for nothing could give Palace an interesting opportunity late in the window.
