Crystal Palace midfielder Dario Osorio has been urged to take inspiration from former Eagles star Michael Olise if he wants to fulfil his potential.
The advice has come from Chilean icon Arturo Vidal, who believes Dario Osorio already possesses the qualities needed to reach the highest level but must develop greater confidence and maturity.
Vidal was speaking on Chilean television during Chile’s friendly against the USA, with Osorio becoming a topic of discussion at half-time.
Vidal believes Osorio can reach the elite
“Look, I do know Osorio; I know his quality, and expectations have always been high for him,” Vidal said as quoted by Sport Witness.
“Now, I want him to prove it and take that step toward maturity.”
The former Chile international believes Osorio is still developing mentally and needs to show more belief in his own abilities.
“Based on his personality, you can tell he doesn’t yet have that ‘I am Osorio’ confidence,” Vidal added.
He then pointed to Michael Olise as an example for the Crystal Palace summer signing to follow. Olise made his breakthrough at Selhurst Park before earning a move to Bayern Munich in 2024.
Vidal believes Osorio has similar attacking qualities and can make the same kind of progress.
“He possesses three very important qualities: the speed to go up against any player in the world, a powerful shot, and a spectacular left foot,” he said.
“I don’t want to make comparisons, but Olise drives forward quickly, beats his man, and is already among the best in the world. Why can’t Osorio, with the same attributes and the same speed, do the same?”
