Palace still interested in signing Khouma Babacar

During the January transfer window, Crystal Palace were reportedly trying to sign Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar, but the Italian side were not prepared to let him leave.

Instead, Palace brought in Emmanuel Adebayor on a free transfer to help solve their striker shortage.

With Adebayor hardly setting the world on fire since his arrival, Palace are expected to reignite their search for a striker in the summer and, according to Darren Lewis of The Mirror, they will go back in for Babacar.

According to the report, the 23-year-old would cost Palace around £8million and with Marouane Chamakh set to join Bordeaux on a free transfer in the summer, there is definitely a place in the squad for him.

Babacar has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Fiorentina this season but looks set to leave the club to get more game time.

Most of his appearances have been from the bench with the likes of Nikola Kalinic and Mauro Zárate seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
