Crystal Palace’s trip to the Hawthorns last season was one of those to forget for the travelling fans with an abysmal first-half performance, leaving the Eagles fans wondering what they were in for with the next 45 minutes. Luckily, it wasn’t that bad.

West Brom scored three first half goals and completely outplayed Alan Pardew’s side with Gardener, Dawson and Berahino all scoring goals for the hosts in the space of 20 minutes, after the first in the 12th minute.

Connor Wickham scored two second half goals to leave the travelling fans with something good to come out of the game.

Alan Pardew: “For the first 30 minutes they swamped us with aggression and power. Their front two caused us problems but our front two didn’t and our distribution wasn’t good.

“The first half was a shock to me, the goals went in quickly, and it knocked our confidence. In the second half we were a completely different side.”
