Crystal Palace are set to sign defender Jairo Riedewald from Ajax on a ‘multi-year’ deal, Sport Witness report.

The 20-year-old will sign for the Premier League club in London on Monday afternoon, before then flying out to Asia to join the rest of the Crystal Palace squad on their pre-season tour.

Crystal Palace are said to have fought off stern competition from Newcastle United and Everton for the player’s signature, with the Dutch media reporting that Crystal Palace will pay Ajax a fee of around £8.3million for the versatile young defender.

Steve Parish, Crystal Palace chairman, had confirmed on Sunday evening that a medical for a player would be taking place on Monday with it now known that it will be Riedewald having his medical with the London club.

Frank De Boer gave Riedewald his first team debut for Ajax in 2013 and has since been a huge admirer of the youngster.

Riedewald will be De Boer’s second signing of the summer after the club last week confirmed the season-long loan of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea.
