Hodgson reportedly set to be given January transfer kitty

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is reportedly set to be awarded a £40m transfer kitty to spend in January.

According to the Daily Star, the Eagles’ hierarchy are keen to sufficiently back the former England boss as he looks to turn around Palace’s poor start to the season and consolidate their place in the Premier League.

Hodgson was appointed as Palace’s manager this week following Frank de Boer’s dismissal. The Dutchman was sacked having failed to see his side net in any of their four opening games, and also oversaw four losses on the bounce.

However, 70-year-old Hodgson will now be keen to help steady the ship at Selhurst Park, and it looks as though he’ll have the money to spend in the winter window.

Hodgson has been out of work since late June following his resignation from the England national team. Palace are the fifth Premier League club he’s managed in his career so far.
