Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez has emerged as a transfer target for Crystal Palace as they look to make themselves more solid at the back, according to a report from Darren Lewis of The Mirror.
The former Real Madrid keeper lifted the European Cup in 2014 and will draw on all of his experiences of playing in big matches if he does join Palace, with Wayne Hennessey or Julian Sperioni moving on to make room for him.
Crystal Palace remain very confident of completing a deal for the 36-year-old goalkeeper in the upcoming January transfer window.
New Eagles boss Roy Hodgson still identifies the goalkeeping position as the main area which he would like to improve.
Since joining the club the former England manager has been rotating between both Speroni and Hennessey between the sticks.
Both players haven’t impressed too much which has caused the Eagles boss to reevaluate his options coming into the crucial stages of the season.
Lopez has had a relatively successful career to date playing for Madrid Villarreal, Sevilla and AC Milan and he is currently on loan in at Espanyol.
