Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the club are indeed interested in signing Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.
As quoted by Sky Sports, Hodgson addressed the media today ahead of his side’s clash against Swansea this weekend, and the subject of Tosun was discussed.
I know him, he plays in the Champions League. The club have watched him, yes. I don’t think there’s been any further contact between the clubs, I’d be surprised if that’s the case.
It’s been claimed by sources in Turkey that Palace have already had a bid worth in the region of £18 million rejected for the forward, who has been in superb form for Besiktas this season.

At the moment I have no information whatsoever that we are going to sign Cenk Tosun so if tomorrow the chairman says to me I’ve got you a player, Cenk Tosun, I shall be as surprised as you are.
Tosun is being courted by a number of Premier League clubs, with Palace one side who have been interested since the summer, and competition for his signature is sure to be rife when the January transfer window opens.
The Eagles prepare to take on Swansea with no senior striker available, with Christian Benteke sidelined as a result of suspension. This only highlights Palace’s lack of depth in the attacking area of the pitch – something that Hodgson will surely hope is rectified in the window.
